Water Saving Tips

In this current climate, we are all hoping to save a little extra money on our bills. Whether you are a landlord, tenant or a homeowner, here are some ways on how to save a little more on your water bills:

  • Check for leaks. Are your water bills higher than usual? This could be caused by a leak in the property. Check your sinks, toilets and outside taps, to ensure this isn’t the case.
  • Leftover water from cooking can be used to water your plants and garden when cooled.
  • Wash your dishes, pots and pans in a sink of soapy water, rather than running water. Only run the tap to rinse through.
  • If you have a dishwasher in your property, only wash when this is full to get the most out of your usage.
  • Make sure you’re putting a large amount of laundry in the washing machine, rather than doing a few small washes.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • When brushing your teeth or washing your hands, make sure you are turning the water off when applying soap and brushing. Only turn the water on when rinsing your toothbrush/hands.

Tips For Landlords: tenants appreciate appliances that are energy efficient and are water saving, to keep the costs down in this current climate. If you are interested in making your property more cost-efficient, invest in low flow shower heads, low-flow aerators for taps and energy efficient light bulbs.
